Leave the Wild Atlantic Coastline behind, traveling a few miles inland for an unforgettable riding experience. Ride along the barren Gleniff Horseshoe valley (voted no.1 attractions in Ballintrillick by Trip Advisor), nestled beneath the soaring presence of Benwiskin Mountain. The valley is steeped in history and legend. Set in a spectacular cliff face is Diarmuid and Grainne’s cave. Legend has it that this was the lovers’ hiding place on their flight from Fionn Mac Cumhaill. Barium meal, used in medical procedures, had been mined in the Dartry Mountains until the middle of the 20th century.
On this fully guided experience you will enjoy a break and a snack at the old Barytes mill site (voted one of top picnic places for families in Ireland) at the base of the Gleniff Horseshoe before returning home to the yard along quiet country laneways. The ride offers breath-taking views of 10 townlands and the Atlantic Ocean. Don’t leave Ireland without a visit to this famous landmark!
Riders should bring picnic lunches with them to eat at the break. In the interest of client safety and comfort, only very fit and very experienced riders should take part in this ride.
