Details
Inishbofin (Island of the White Cow) lies seven miles off Galway’s coast. This magical island is now a haven for tourism, farming and trawling fish. The island is 5.7km by 4km, and has five villages: West Quarter, Fawnmore, Middle Quarter, Cloonamore and Knock, which means that bikes are the ideal method of transport. On your arrival at the pier, collect your electric bike and get ready to explore. (There is a daily ferry service all year round from the pier in Cleggan to Inishbofin.)
Inishbofin has lots of interesting things to see and do: a selection of official looped walks, two Green Coast awarded beaches, a dive centre, an equestrian centre, historical sites, white beaches, swimming, hill walks and shore angling. The island is a great place for bird watching and the rare corncrake can be heard here every year. The island is also a centre for traditional Irish music and song with its own CeilĂ band.
